Why is WoW in its decline?

World of Warcraft has lost a ridiculous amount of subscribers ever since Cataclysm came out and even more when 4.1 came out. What do you suppose the reason to this is?
Is it other games or what Blizzard has done to WoW?
Or is it something business from Blizzard's side? I think it has to be the designers of the came because it seems to me like Blizzard has never doing better with Starcraft 2 and Diablo 3.

Very good question, I believe that WoW is declining because of the recent Increase of the quality of F2P MMORPG. Games like Lotro, Dragons Nest, and Perfect world have all really increase its customer support and quality of the game. WoW is trying to compete by going F2P for till lvl 20s, but I think until they make the full stride to F2P they are never going to be able to compete with other F2P RPGs.

This is a good point. F2P MMO's have never been doing better. Plus quality paid MMO's are also doing well i.e, RIFT

Simply because it's too expensive.

I think GW2 is going to be the end to WoW.

World of Warcraft had a huge user base in Asia. This user base gives Activision Blizzard a stable bottom line. And to be honest, many gamers are so invested into the game (paying for in-game items), they wouldn't leave the World of Warcraft enviroment.

eh....regardless of asia the player base for WoW has steadily decreased from the release of cataclysm. No longer is WoW the king of mmos, this is because of outdated graphics, linear grind based gamelplay, and outdated buisness model.

I feel that WoW has developed a negative connotation, similar to that of Runescape or Club Penguin. It is looked as socially unacceptable to play these type of games and it might steer potential players away.

it could be the negative connotation but i also think that the people who work on it are sometimes just not dedicated to it as other newgames.
